Barbara Klar's jewelry looks like no one else's. Klar, who sells through her shop, Clear Metals, at 72 Thompson Street, believes that " jewelry is really about icons, talisman, things that bring you good luck."

She takes her inspiration from Celtic, Egyptian, and American indian artifacts. They are cultures that use jewelry "as a form of symbolism and trade, part of everyday life." And like the ancients, Klar doesn't regard her jewelry as frivolous. Which is why, she says "more is more."
